Frequently Asked Questions

What should we wear?

With the type of photography we do, the simpler the better. White T shirts/shirts and jeans gives the most relaxed look to a portrait. However, if you don't have these don't feel you have to rush out and buy them. Just avoid anything heavily patterned as this takes the eye to the clothing rather than the subject. It's also worth remembering that as we predominately take black & white or sepia toned portraits, any colour other than light or dark will come out in varying shades of grey.

If you are going for colour portraits, watch out for colours that clash. The only other thing we would normally say about clothing is anything high necked for babies like shirts or overalls can sometimes end up covering the baby's face.

Can I feed or change my baby if I need to?

Yes, we are parents so we understand that babies don't work to a schedule. We allow plenty of time if you need to feed, change or settle your baby. At the studio we have a change table with nappies, wipes etc for you to use and if you need bottles warming we are happy to do this for you.

What if my baby or child won't settle, get's very upset or just won't have their photograph taken?

Please, please don't worry about this it is very normal for a baby or child to find the whole thing a bit strange. Paul is very used to this and will give you time to settle them. It is amazing the portraits Paul get's when the parent thinks it is never going to happen, he only needs a small window of opportunity to get a photo. If however, your baby or child really won't settle  then we will just reschedule your appointment. Don't forget we don't charge a sitting fee so it won't cost you anything if we have to do this (only a travel fee if we have come to you and you are outside our local area).

How long will the sitting take?

We allow approximately 3 hours per sitting and find that the average time it takes is 2 hours. Taking the photographs doesn't take that long however, choosing them after wards can!
